Abstract

This year is the most memorable and regretful of Thai people. His Majesty King Bhumipol Adulyadej, the beloved King and Father of Thai people passed away on the 13th October 2016. On that day, we shocked with this news and felt like dark cloud was covered the country. The royal cremation will be on 26th October 2017, which will be another most sorrow moment of Thai people another time.

I remember nearly 20 years ago, when we travelled to Klai Kangwon Palace in Hua Hin to watch HM. King Bhumipol. We, the executive committee of RCOST, were very delighted after we received the confirmation from the Bureau of the Royal Household that the King accepted College of Orthopaedic Surgeon of Thailand under the patronage of HM. King Bhumipol Adulyadej. HM. King granted us an audience on 26th April 2000. Prof. Prasit Kongketyai, as the President of the College of Orthopaedic Surgeons of Thailand, offered RCOST Honorary Membership to HM. King Bhumipol at there.

  1. King Bhumipol was very kind to see us and asked about our activities and the purposes of the College, HM. King seemed to be tired after about an hour stand and talk to us. We prepared to leave the hall, but HM. King sat and allowed us to explain more about some orthopaedic diseases more than 2 hours. It was actually the most memorable time in our life.

We can change name from College of Orthopaedic Surgeons of Thailand to be the Royal College of Orthopaedic Surgeons of Thailand. We are so proud to work under the patronage of His Majesty King Bhumipol Adulyadej, our beloved king, and we will devote all of our strength and time to work for him.
